Chef Cleetus Friedman Honors Late Father with Scleroderma Fundraiser

16th Annual Event Takes Place October 10 at Chicago's Theater on Lake

Cleetus Friedman was a strong advocate of farm to table dining during his long career as a Chicago chef. He also made many friends in the region's culinary community.

It isn't surprising, then, that Cleetus has no problem recruiting a first-class lineup of chefs to serve tastes of their creations at his annual Cooking Up a Cure event that raises money for the Scleroderma Foundation of Greater Chicago.

This year's event will be held on Thursday, October 10 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Theater on the Lake, located on the Lincoln Park lakefront at Fullerton Ave. (2401 N. Lake Shore Dr.).

The cause is very personal to Cleetus. His father died young from scleroderma, a chronic illness that causes skin tightness and thickening that can spread to internal organs.
