Community Food Navigator's Nov. 7 Food Sovereignty Event

Healing and Harvest Event to Be Held at Plant Chicago

Chicago's Community Food Navigator non-profit is holding an event, titled "Healing & Harvest," that is aimed at those with a dedication to its core issue: food sovereignty. Food sovereignty is defined as the ability of communities to control the production and distribution of their food and to define their own food systems.

The event will be held on Thursday, November 7, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the home base of non-profit Plant Chicago at 4459 S. Marshfield Ave. in the Back of the Yards Community.

According to Community Food Navigator:

Join us on Thursday, November 7th from 6pm- 9pm at Plant Chicago for our annual Healing & Harvest Gathering - a space for growers, culinary creatives, food mobilizers, and all working towards food sovereignty to gather for communal healing after the growing season. This year we're leaning into transition of the seasons, rest, communal grief processing - and the parallels we see in nature and our growing spaces.

We gather to bring visibility to each other, catalyze relationship building and knowledge sharing, and to lean into collective joy and mutual care in our local food ecosystem. RSVPing helps us to prepare food and supplies for all.

This event is free and intended for those growing, cooking, mobilizing, and organizing towards food sovereignty. A thank you for all the hard work you put in to feed and care for our community this growing season and beyond.
