Make Plans for This Galvanizing Event of the Better Food and Farm Movement
Farm Aid announced this morning that its 2024 day-long festival of music and inspiration will be held in Saratoga Springs, New York on Saturday, September 21. The festival will be held at Broadview Stage at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, located about 35 miles north of the state capital of Albany.
In its announcement email, the organization said the festival is "a full day of music, family farmers, HOMEGROWN food and our very special HOMEGROWN Village."
It continued, "The festival will highlight how family farmers are essential for a secure supply of safe, nutritious food; healthy soil and water; and strong, economically vibrant communities," all things that Local Food Forum wholeheartedly supports.
As for the concert, expect performances by Farm Aid board members Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews (with Tim Reynolds), as well as Mavis Staples, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Lukas Nelson with The Travelin’ McCourys, Charley Crockett, Joy Oladokun, Southern Avenue, Cassandra Lewis and Jesse Welles, with more artists to be announced.
I have attended Farm Aid twice, at its 30th anniversary concert here in Chicago in 2015 and just last year outside of Indianapolis. They are among the most memorable experiences of my life. If you can make it to upstate New York on September 21, I highly recommend it. (I'll share photos of those past Farm Aid concerts over the next few weeks.)
If you already can't wait to go, there is a pre-sale that starts TOMORROW (Wednesday, July 24) at 9 a.m. central time/10 a.m. eastern; it ends when pre-sale tickets are sold out or by 4 p.m central/5 p.m. eastern on Thursday.
The public ticket sale begins Friday (July 26) at 9 a.m. central/10 a.m. eastern.
