Farm Aid Seeks Funds to Help Farmers Facing Hurricane Crises

Contributions to Its Family Farm Disaster Fund are Much Needed

Caring people responded with shock and horror at the destruction wreaked two weeks ago by Hurricane Helene. Today, we are thinking about the people in Florida who are facing the likelihood of major ruin as monster Hurricane Milton approaches the state's Gulf Coast.

Farmers are among those victimized by these natural catastrophes. Today, Farm Aid — the non-profit that defends the interests of small farms across the nation while working toward a better food system — issued a plea for contributions to its Family Farm Disaster Fund.

Here is the message from the organization with information on how to donate and for farmers in distress. The loss and suffering is enormous... please consider making a donation.

Crops underwater. Orchards ripped from their roots. Cattle and livestock drowned. And farm families’ homes decimated.

The destruction that Hurricane Helene left in its wake is horrific. Agricultural producers have had their homes and livelihoods swept away and many lack a safety net to soften the blow. Many will never be able to recoup the value of their loss. Now we are bracing for Hurricane Milton, which is forecasted to slam into Florida later today.

If you have been affected by these disasters, please know that all of us at Farm Aid are grieving with you. Check our website for resources and please don't hesitate to call the Farm Aid Hotline at1-800-FARM-AID.

If you want to show farmers you stand with them, one impactful thing you can do is contribute to Farm Aid's Family Farm Disaster Fund. We created this fund to help farm families recover from weather-related disasters 30 years ago and the frequency, intensity and devastation of extreme weather has only increased with climate change. Farmers need help both in the immediate aftermath of these storms and on their path to long-term recovery and resiliency.

Every dollar raised for the Family Farm Disaster Fund enables Farm Aid to directly address the needs of affected farmers and ranchers.

We are in close communication with farmer organizations on the ground in the Southeast who are working to support farmers as they recover from crop and livestock loss, land destruction and equipment losses. Devastatingly, some of our partners have reported missing people and deaths from Hurricane Helene. The impacts are overwhelming. One hundred percent of the donations made through our Family Farm Disaster Fund will reach farmers.

Your generous contributions show farmers you care and make this work possible, strengthening Farm Aid to mobilize when a disaster strikes. Please make a gift to Farm Aid's Family Farm Disaster Fund today!
