Awardees Celebrated at Recent Illinois State Fair in Springfield
Illinois Stewardship Alliance — the state's premier non-profit local food and farm policy advocate — has announced the recipients of its three major annual awards. The awards were presented at the recent Illinois State Fair by Jerry Costello Jr., the director of the state Department of Agriculture:

Cliff Schuette, Schuette Signature Beef, Breese, Illinois: Cliff received the second annual Woody Woodruff Conservation Award. The award is named in memory of Robert "Woody" Woodruff, a beloved conservation leader, Macoupin County farmer, and Illinois Stewardship Alliance staff member who passed away after a battle with cancer in 2020, and recognizes a farmer who exemplifies Woody's passion for soil, water, and community.
Traci Barkley and John Williams, Sola Gratia Farm, Urbana, Illinois: Traci and John received the 2024 Local Food Changemaker of the Year Award for their exemplary leadership in growing the local food economy and helping Illinois farmers feed Illinois.
Richard Lyons, Lyons Farm, Harvel, Illinois: Richard was named the recipient of the 2024 Illinois Leopold Conservation Award®. The award honors farmers and forestland owners who go above and beyond in the management of soil health, water quality, and wildlife habitat on working land.
