Tips for Parents About Better-for-Kids Between Meals Treats
Local Food Forum covers a wide range of efforts to improve the quality, the taste and the nutritional value of the food that schools across the nation provide to their students.
Parents, though, can help move the needle on healthier food for kids by sending them to school with between-meals snacks that avoid excessive amounts of sugar, salt and fat. Doing so not only contributes to their current health, but can help establish a lifetime of healthier eating habits.
And we're talking, of course, about healthier snacks that are also delicious and appealing to children. That's the topic of this feature contributed by University of Illinois Extension and UI Health. Thanks as always to Bianca Bautista of UI Extension Cook County for producing the content.
