Two-Day Event Beckons Local Food Fans to Springfield

If you love locally produced food and you live (or can visit) downstate, then the Illinois Product Expo provides a chance to meet great producers.

The two-day event takes place next weekend (March 1 and 2) at the Orr Building on the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield. Admission is just $5 (state employees and children 10 years old and younger get in free).

Businesses with which I'm acquainted through my Local Food Forum and Naturally Chicago work — and which I'm happy to recommend — include Cahokia Rice, Engrained Brewing, Gindo's Spice of Life, Glaciers End, Mariah's Mums and More, and Phoenix Bean Tofu. In addition, 14 Illinois wineries will be sampling their products.
