Ravinia Indoor Market to Kick Off in Time for December Holiday Shopping

Located in Downtown Highland Park, The Market Will Run Through April

A mainstay of the Chicago region farmers market community for more than 45 years. Ravinia Farmers Market in suburban Highland Park is taking its act indoors with a new winter market.

The market will take place at the Wayfarer Theaters in downtown Highland Park (1850 2nd Street), about two miles north of the Ravinia market's outdoor season location. The indoor market will kick off in time for your holiday food and products shopping with openings on Saturday, December 14 and Sunday, December 15, and again both days of the following weekend (December 21 and 22). Hours for those dates at 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

After a two-week break, the market will resume at that location on Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. beginning on January 11 through April 26.

The following are the details provided by the organizers:

Highland Park Welcomes Inaugural Season of the Indoor Winter Ravinia Farmers Market

Partnership with Wayfarer Theaters Brings Fresh, Local Produce, Artisan Goods and Community Spirit Indoors

HIGHLAND PARK, IL (Nov. 14, 2024) — Ravinia Farmers Market, in partnership with Wayfarer Theaters, invites the community to experience its first-ever indoor Winter Ravinia Farmers Market, a weekly celebration of fresh local foods and artisan products in downtown Highland Park.

Starting in December, the Ravinia Farmers Market will take place on Dec. 14 and 15 and Dec. 21 and 22, at Wayfarer Theaters (1850 2nd Street) in the theater lobby and adjacent retail space, followed by markets every Saturday from Jan. 11 through April 26 in the trail space. This family-friendly event offers a welcoming space to connect with local vendors, shop quality foods, enjoy a matinee movie and celebrate the vibrant downtown Highland Park district.

Each weekend, marketgoers can explore an assortment of local and organic produce from two nearby farms, Jacobson Family Farms and Farmer Nick’s, along with area vendors offering meats, eggs, honey, teas, nourishing personal care products, artisanal food offerings, bakery items and handmade goods.

The market will also feature a variety of freshly prepared and ready-to-eat options available for purchase. Both new and returning vendors include Cocina Aztec and Albaik Tahini.

Designed to foster community connections, promote sustainable shopping and offer an educational immersive market experience, the indoor market will bring together farmers, artisans and families in a lively, warm setting — perfect for browsing the best of local offerings, even during the winter months.

“This new indoor season is an exciting way to extend the Market’s tradition of fresh and local food into the winter months,” says Ed Kugler, Ravinia Farmers Market Manager. “Our goal is to create a place where the community can gather, enjoy the tastes of the season and build relationships with the artisans and farmers who bring quality, sustainable products to our tables.”

The Winter Ravinia Farmers Market not only provides area residents with access to high-quality foods but also supports the local economy by highlighting the value of shopping local and connecting with farmers and other vendors. Visitors can shop with confidence, knowing they’re choosing fresh, responsibly sourced products while supporting local farms and businesses.

“Wayfarer Theaters was founded to be not only a way to watch films that spark conversation and positive thought, but to serve as a community hub for our Highland Park, North Shore and greater Chicago neighbors,” said Steve Sarowitz, co-founder of Wayfarer Theaters. “Our partnership with Ravinia Farmers Market underscores our desire to connect and continue providing wholesome content and programming during a time when a lot of local residents don’t have access to the freshest ingredients. We hope to be a place for camaraderie, joy and nutrition – both physical and spiritual.”
