Chicago's Newest Food Co-Op Seeks a Produce Lead
As promised, the folks at Wild Onion Market — the recently opened food co-op in Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood — have provided the details of their Harvest Festival, which will be held Saturday (October 26) at the store (7007 N. Clark St.) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
But first, some lucky person with produce experience will get to turn over a new leaf (many of them, actually) as the store's new Produce Lead.

Wild Onion Market, a full-service grocery co-op in Rogers Park hosts its first annual Harvest Festival, celebrating the fall harvest and National Co-op Month, on Oct. 26 from 10 am -2 p.m.
• Where: 7007 N Clark St (Clark and Lunt)
• All are welcome!
The public is invited to enjoy the co-op’s 1st Annual Harvest Festival. This free, family-friendly event will celebrate the season’s bounty with music, activities, cider and giveaways. Come join the celebration at Wild Onion Market, Rogers Park’s new local, community-oriented source of affordable organic staples, grab ’n’ go items, bulk foods, and more.
This day will also serve as an Owner Appreciation Day. All the co-op’s 2,300+ owners will be eligible for 10% discounts on any shopping they do that day. This will also apply to those who become owners on the 26th.
The Harvest Festival is free to the public. Those attending will enjoy music provided by For the Birds, demonstrations by Dinner Belle chef Jacquelyn Lor, and samples provided by visiting vendors.
Attendees will also learn a bit about the cooperative movement, a global phenomenon that traces its roots to the first modern cooperative founded in England in 1844.
Anyone can come and shop. The co-op serves communities in Evanston and Chicago, especially Rogers Park, Edgewater, and West Ridge. Shoppers will find “all the best local offerings, affordable organic staples, and fresh produce, with great selections throughout the store, from gourmet cheese to bulk grocery on regular, rotating sales,” said General Manager Teresa Meza.
The store at Clark and Lunt is conveniently accessible via bus, bicycle, Metra and the ”L”, as well as by car. There is parking on site.
On behalf of the Wild Onion Market board and all its owners, the co-op’s president, Stephen Johnson, says, “We invite everyone to check out our new grocery store and make it a regular part of how you meet your grocery shopping needs and wants. The Harvest Festival would be a great time to come by, but know that you’re welcome here any time.”
Wild Onion Market is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week.
Grateful for all you do, Bob🍎!
